Rani Young is a Chicago-based graphic designer and motion graphics artist with over 15 years experience. Working in various capacities from production artist to associate creative director, she started out in print and quickly moved into animation and design for motion. Rani is also a visual artist, working primarily in oil painting (www.raniyoung.com) and has been the lead singer in three bands, including Girl Detective. In 2009, she co-founded a storefront art gallery/record store, Transistor, and later opened Resistor, an event space/music venue/teaching facility, which she solely operated until January 2018. Rani has taught painting and drawing classes to over 1,000 students, and has led workshops and individual tutoring sessions in Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
